What is Holistic Medicine?

"Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."
World Health Organization’s constitution -1946
Holistic Health is an approach to Health that englobes all physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of our well-being. The term "holism" means that all parts are interconnected and function as a whole. A holistic approach considers the body as a whole, where all organs and systems are interconnected. In medicine, it is about considering all the factors influencing diseases, not only their biological and physical dimensions. Healing considers the whole person, body, mind and spirit.
Holistic medicine considers the individual as a whole, namely his body, his emotions, his mind, and his spirit. This therapy is not limited to treating the symptoms but also seeks the causes behind the appearance of a disorder.

About Emilie Berthet Clairet
A registered medical doctor, Emilie Berthet Clairet, practised in the specialist field of bacteriology- human biology- Paris. She moved to South Africa in 2005 and trained and worked in Public Health. She worked on various projects, such as HIV prevention and access to a healthy diet for the underprivileged population. During this life-changing experience, she discovered how lifestyle can be directly linked to health and how prevention can make a real difference.
She moved to Hong Kong in 2008, worked as a dance fitness instructor for a few years and was certified in exercise and sports nutrition. Some health concerns for herself and her children made her experience the benefits of complementary medicines and a more personalised approach to our health. As a result, she decided to pursue her medical practice as a holistic practitioner, focusing on rebalancing lifestyle and diet to keep our body healthy instead of treating diseases when they occur. To accompany her patients on her journey to better health, she trained as a clinical hypnotherapist to find the right relationship and balance between body, mind and our environment.
Emilie now practices in clinical hypnotherapy and holistic nutrition. She has developed a particular interest in the link between our mind and body, the impact our thoughts and automatic behaviours have on our health, and the intestinal flora and its complex interaction with all our systems and organs. Rebalancing the intestinal flora requires a holistic approach, and stress and lifestyle greatly influence our intestinal flora's balance. Thanks to her training in allopathic medicine, Emilie can understand what can be treated with medications and supplements and what requires a more holistic and holistic approach to health. Our health is impacted by blockages, compulsive behaviours, and beliefs, which need us to understand what goes wrong between our brain and body. It sometimes requires work on the subconscious through hypnotherapy. We are all different; our body, mind, and the relationship between the two are often much more complex than we think. We need an individual approach; Emilie uses her knowledge of allopathic and holistic medicine to define which approach can be most beneficial to you and supports you in putting it into practice.
